A life-size Godzilla has terrorized visitors at a theme park in Japan.
Last week, “Operation Godzilla Intercept” debuted at Moribinary Park on Awaji Island. This huge zip line attraction lets fans experience scenes from horror movies.
Visitors set off from a platform and zip line directly into the beast’s glowing belly. After sliding down, there is a shooter game where visitors try to stop the growth of Godzilla cells.
“As far as we know, this is the only ever life-size Godzilla statue,” a spokesperson for Pasona Group, the recruitment firm that runs the theme park, told the BBC. “We want Godzilla fans, including those in foreign countries, to appreciate the massive monster they’ve only known on the movie screen.”
According to the Japan Times, the Godzilla is 75 feet tall, 82 feet wide and 180 feet long.
Critics say the attraction’s status doesn’t quite match the real Godzilla’s. In last year’s movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla was almost 400 feet long. But in New Gensen Park, Godzilla appeared with half of his body buried in the ground.

Visitors can see statues and dioramas near the attraction at the Godzilla Museum. The museum will also offer themed foods, such as a “Godzilla curry” made with Awaji Island’s signature Onions and Godzilla puffs with strawberries.
The attraction was initially scheduled to open in the summer but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tickets are about $36 (3,800 yen) for children 12 and older, about $20 (2,200 yen) for children 5 to 11, and free for children under 4.
