Ready for a deep swim? Dubai Dive, the world’s deepest swimming pool, invites you to jump in.
Dubai is certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s deepest swimming pool. It dives 60 meters (about 197 feet) and contains 14 million liters (about 3.7 million gallons) of water, which is just shy of six Olympic-size swimming pools.
“The Dubai Deep Dive Centre allows thrill-seekers to dive inboard and discover a new underwater dimension full of adventure and wonder,” Abdulla Bin Habtoor, spokesman for the Dubai Deep Dive Centre, said in a statement following its 2021 Guinness certification. “We offer an unparalleled year-round diving experience in a safe environment with excellent instructors and services.”
The pool is located near Nad Al Sheba, south of Dubai Creek. Shaped like a giant oyster, it is a tribute to the history of pearl diving in the Persian Gulf and offers divers access to the latest technology, including the most advanced high-pressure chamber in the region, state-of-the-art lighting, sound and mood systems, and an intense filtration system using NASA technology that recycles the water every six hours with volcanic rock and ultraviolet radiation.
In the pool, you can explore the intricacies of the “sunken city,” with its “abandoned” apartment buildings, underwater arcades, underwater cars, Musical Instruments, and more.
Bin Habtoor said the Dubai Deep Dive team “wants to embody the determination of past and present UAE explorers and innovators and provide a platform for future achievements and discoveries.”
The pool attracts freedivers, scuba divers, and snorkelers, all of whom enjoy programs that cater to all ages and experience levels. Beginners can take free introductory diving, scuba, and snorkeling classes. At the same time, licensed divers can sign up for guided deep pool dives. The necessary gear is provided, so don’t worry about checking diving gear on your flight.
There are also children’s programs and land-based activities such as facility Tours. Visitors can browse for gear and gifts at the on-site shop and glimpse the underwater scene through large Windows and video screens.
